God has made this world in such a way that it contains everything that Paradise has, but in a very limited way. In this world, you have all the senses of enjoyment for the desires you possess. But once you get what you desire, you soon discover that you can enjoy it in a limited sense. The personality you possess seeks unlimited joy, unlimited happiness and unlimited fulfilment. But once you fulfil your desire after great efforts, you realize that there was limited joy in it. You don’t get unlimited joy from it. God is indicating to you to discover Paradise through such experiences. If you have an unlimited desire for fulfilment, then there should exist objects for such unlimited fulfilment. Where will I find this unlimited enjoyment and happiness? At this moment, you should discover that your habitat is Paradise.
The Quran says this about Paradise: وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ عَرَّفَهَا لَهُمْ (47:6) “God will admit them into Paradise He has already made known to them.” How has God made Paradise known?
In this world you can only understand Paradise, but you will see it in reality in the Hereafter. The above verse means that entry to Paradise is only for those who have discovered Paradise. While living in this world, the things around become point of reference for you to call out to God: O God, in this world You have destined limited joy for me. But You have given me the desire to seek unlimited joy! You created me with an unlimited mind. I seek to achieve unlimited fulfilment. But the things available to me in this world are all limited. Where is that world where I can have unlimited joy? The Quran answers that this world is Paradise. This experience becomes a point of reference for you. The limited experience of this world becomes a point of reference for you. You then call out to God to give you a place in the unlimited world of Paradise. When you lead such a life, you recharge yourself daily. This develops in you the desired personality.
